Goals

Something that I enjoy thinking about and focusing on in this space is Goal setting. In the past, this was definitely not an enjoyable exercise for me! I didn't know what to do, how to set a goal, what that meant, and I definitely didn't know how to hold myself accountable over the long term. Having a long-term recording of my thoughts and wishes for my life, my activities, and my triumphs has really helped. But you don't necessarily need a blog to make goal setting - and keeping - a possibility in your life.

Now, I am by no means an expert on this topic, but I have had my fair share of successes and failures. And I am constantly learning what works for me, what doesn't work, and improving on the theme every year.

I have high hopes for 2016, I think it's going to be an amazing year! My strategy this year was to create four specific statements about what I will do this year, in four categories of my life: personal, emotional, family, home. I have posted this precious document on the mirror in my bathroom, so I can read it everyday. I also helped Dude create his own goals list.

Goal setting for previous years: 2014, 20132012

One activity that goes along with my setting goals for the year, is choosing a "One Little Word" to guide and shape my year and where my general (or specific) focus will be. My OLW posts are here, and you can read about the background for the OLW "movement" here. My word for 2016 is "Time", and I've already got some grand and not so grand schemes for this one! I am excited to see where this one takes me!

Past words: Focus, Be Brave 2013, Honesty 2014, Simplify 2015

And if you're really committed, here are ALL the Goals...
